About The Position

Market Grille Clerks serve made-to-order food and provide a warm, welcoming customer experience at the Market Grille counter. They keep daily operations running smoothly by managing orders, handling food safely, maintaining product availability, and working with the team to deliver quality service. The position suits someone who enjoys a fast-paced food-service environment and helping customers.

Requirements

Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables.
Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a positive customer experience.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
No education requirement; training is provided.

Nice To Haves

Prior food-service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greet customers, learn their names, and help make each visit positive.
Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, including taking product orders.
Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish products as necessary.
Pull products from the cooler or freezer for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready.
Handle food safely and check food freshness and appearance.
Maintain a clean and sanitary work area throughout the shift.
Check in products, put them away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register, receive payments, and make change where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and wash dishes as needed.
Price and order products and deliver orders as needed.
Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other areas of the store and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
