About The Position

Market Grille Clerks serve made-to-order food and create a welcoming customer experience. They take and prepare orders, handle food safely, maintain product supplies and cleanliness, and work with a team to deliver quality service in a busy store kitchen. Training is provided. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience.

Nice To Haves

Prior food service experience.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and help make each visit positive.
Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, including taking product orders.
Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare or replenish products as necessary.
Pull products from coolers or freezers for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready.
Handle food safely and check food freshness and appearance.
Maintain a clean, sanitary work area throughout the shift.
Check in products, put them away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register, receive payments, and make change where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and wash dishes as necessary.
Price and order products and deliver orders as needed.
Work with co-workers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
