About The Position

Market Grille Clerks prepare and serve fresh, made-to-order food while creating a warm, welcoming experience for customers. They keep department operations running smoothly by managing orders, handling food safely, maintaining product freshness, and working with the team to provide quality service in a fast-paced store kitchen environment. Training is provided.

Requirements

Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
Communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team.
No education requirement; training is provided.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, point-of-sale transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
Complete a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and help make each customer visit positive.
Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone, including taking product orders.
Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish products.
Pull products from coolers or freezers for cooking and ensure adequate food supplies are available.
Handle food safely and monitor food freshness and appearance.
Maintain a clean and sanitary work area.
Check in products, put them away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register, receive payments, and make change where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and wash dishes as needed.
Price and order products and deliver orders as needed.
Work with co-workers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
