About The Position

Market Grille Clerks serve fresh, made-to-order food and create a welcoming experience for customers. They handle orders, safely prepare and replenish food, and work as part of a team to maintain quality service in a busy store kitchen environment. Hy-Vee provides training for the role. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
No education requirement; training is provided.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Where applicable, ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation.
Where applicable, ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.

Nice To Haves

Prior food service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and help make each customer visit positive.
Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone, including taking product orders.
Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish products.
Retrieve products from coolers or freezers and ensure an adequate supply is available for cooking.
Handle food safely and monitor its freshness and appearance.
Maintain a clean and sanitary work area.
Check in products, put them away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and wash dishes as needed.
Price and order products and deliver orders as needed.
Work with co-workers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and complete special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
