About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Marker-Grader position for the CHYS 3P31 Winter D3 - Practical and Theoretical Issues in Child and Youth Care course at Brock University. The compensation for this position is paid according to the employee's qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026. The specific instructor for the course is to be determined (TBA).

Requirements

  • Minimum 3rd Year complete in the CHYS BA or CHYS BA/BEd program, or be entering and/or continuing in the CHYS MA or CHYS PhD program.
  • Must have previously completed CHYS 3P31 or equivalent, and obtained 80% or higher.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in seminar administration for an on-line course, or as a marker-grader for an on-line course.
  • Must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Provide, if available, an evaluation of successful previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Marker-Grader.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency. For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 3P00). For courses taken elsewhere provide a copy of your transcript, highlight the course and provide the course description. Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application.

  • Previous successful experience as a Marker-Grader for CHYS 3P31 will be considered as equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams.
  • Provide written feedback to students that clearly identifies the basis of the grade assigned, including substantive content, written communications, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization.
  • Potentially invigilate mid-terms and examinations for the course.
  • Potentially enter grades into databases at the request of the course instructor.
