About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Marker-Grader position for the CHYS 3P32 Winter D3 course at Brock University. The compensation for this role is based on the employee's qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026. The position is governed by the Collective Agreement for part-time instructors, Teaching Assistants, Lab Demonstrators, Course Coordinators, and Marker-Graders at Brock University. Requirements

  • Minimum 3rd Year complete in the CHYS BA or CHYS BA/BEd program, or be entering and/or continuing in the CHYS MA or CHYS PhD program.
  • Previous successful experience as a Marker-Grader for CHYS 3P32 will be considered as equivalent.
  • Must have previously completed CHYS 3P32 or equivalent, and obtained 80% or higher.
  • Evidence of communication skills (i.e., letter of reference attesting to communication skills as a student in seminar or evaluation of successful previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Marker-Grader).
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency. For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 3P00). For courses taken elsewhere provide a copy of your transcript, highlight the course and provide the course description. Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application.
  • Applications must include a cover letter, a current resume, the names and contact information for three references and, if available, an evaluation of successful previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Marker-Grader.
  • Members with seniority can provide seniority date within the application questionnaire.
  • If necessary, assure to include documentation for consideration of equivalency.

Responsibilities

  • Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement.
  • Must be available to meet with Instructor as necessary, between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM.
  • Mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams.
  • Provide written feedback to students that will clearly identify the basis of the grade assigned, including substantive content, written communications, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization of the submission.
  • May be expected to invigilate mid-terms and examinations for this course, or enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.
