About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Marker-Grader position in the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group for the course GEOG 2P50 - Geography of Canada. Marker-Grader positions are paid according to the qualifications the employee holds, with rates effective September 1, 2026. The role involves marking assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams, and providing written feedback to students. The marker-grader may also be expected to invigilate mid-terms and examinations or enter grades into databases at the request of the course instructor. Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree or have completed a Honours Degree in Human Geography or equivalent.
  • Completion of 4 full credits in Human Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher in all Human Geography courses completed (or equivalent).
  • Completion of GEOG 2P50 (or equivalent) with a final grade of 75% or higher.
  • Demonstration of excellent writing skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines.
  • Demonstrated high level of independence, initiative and self-motivation.
  • If vacancies remain, students enrolled in an Honours Program (completed 13 or more credits) in Human Geography or equivalent will be considered.
  • Applicant must make a case in their cover letter that their qualifications are equivalent to those required above.

Responsibilities

  • Mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams.
  • Provide written feedback to students that clearly identifies the basis of the grade assigned, including substantive content, written communications, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization.
  • Invigilate mid-terms and examinations for the course, at the request of the course instructor.
  • Enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.
