About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for Marker-Grader positions in CHYS 3P74 Winter D3 - Children, Youth and Technology Instructor. Compensation for Marker-Grader positions is based on the employee's qualifications, with different hourly rates for Master's Degree Complete, Undergraduate Degree Complete, Third Year Complete, Second Year Complete, and First Year Complete. These rates are effective September 1, 2026. The role involves marking assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams, and providing written feedback to students. The marker-grader may also be expected to invigilate mid-terms and examinations or enter grades into databases as requested by the course instructor.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3rd Year complete in the CHYS BA or CHYS BA/BEd program, or be entering and/or continuing in the CHYS MA or CHYS PhD program.
  • Must have previously completed CHYS 3P74 or equivalent, and obtained 80% or higher.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in seminar administration for an on-line course, or as a marker-grader for an on-line course.
  • Must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Provide, if available, an evaluation of successful previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Marker-Grader.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency. For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 3P00). For courses taken elsewhere provide a copy of your transcript, highlight the course and provide the course description. Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application.

Responsibilities

  • Mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams.
  • Provide written feedback to students that clearly identifies the basis of the grade assigned, including substantive content, written communications, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization.
  • Invigilate mid-terms and examinations for the course, at the request of the course instructor.
  • Enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.
