About The Position

Glosten is seeking junior or entry-level marine mechanical engineers to join our marine engineering group. Glosten is a naval architecture and marine engineering firm with over 60 years of experience, working on unique and challenging marine projects in a stimulating, fast-paced, and collegial environment. As an employee-owned company of 120 employees, we are dedicated to solving complex problems and continuously improving our business practices and technical performance. Marine mechanical engineers at Glosten design propulsion drivetrains, supporting auxiliary systems, life support, and safety systems for various vessels. We utilize advanced modeling methods and reality capture to develop full 3D machinery plant designs within virtual ships, integrating mechanical systems with modern control and automation. We are at the forefront of developing next-generation ships, driven by initiatives for emissions reductions and efficiency improvements.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in marine engineering, naval architecture, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and power train principles.
  • General knowledge of shipboard systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino3D, or equivalent CAD program.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Unrestricted access to work in the United States or eligibility for TN visas.
  • Some travel and fieldwork are required.
  • Some project assignments may require a valid driver's license, current passport, and/or TWIC card.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or other experience with marine systems.
  • Coursework or other experience with piping system design.
  • Coursework or other experience with vessel operations.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design propulsion drivetrains.

  • Develop full 3D machinery plant designs inside virtual ships.
