About The Position

Glosten is seeking junior or entry-level marine electrical engineers to join our marine engineering group. Glosten is a naval architecture and marine engineering firm with over 60 years of experience, working on unique and challenging marine projects in a stimulating, fast-paced, and collegial environment. As an employee-owned company of 120 employees, we are dedicated to solving complex problems and continuously improving our business practices and technical performance. We offer a high level of electrical engineering and controls expertise, with opportunities to work on advancements in hybrid and all-electric vessel propulsion, power electronics for improved electrical systems, and autonomous vehicle technology. Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in marine engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical power system components: generators, switchboards, transformers, circuit breakers, motors.
  • Basic knowledge of three phase power system calculations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD program.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Unrestricted access to work in the United States or eligible for TN visas.
  • Some travel and fieldwork required.
  • Some project assignments may require a valid driver's license, current passport, and/or TWIC card.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or other experience with electrical power systems and/or industrial control systems is a plus for candidates with a mechanical or marine engineering degree.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems for marine applications.
  • Contribute to projects involving modern energy storage systems, hybrid and all-electric vessel propulsion.
  • Work with advances in power electronics for electrical generation and distribution system designs.
  • Adapt technology for future vessel concepts, including autonomous vehicles.
  • Collaborate with team members to solve complex problems.
  • Engage in fieldwork and travel as required for project assignments.
