About The Position

Glosten is seeking junior or entry-level marine electrical engineers to join our marine engineering group. Glosten is a naval architecture and marine engineering firm with over 60 years of experience, working in teams on unique and challenging marine projects in a stimulating, fast-paced, and collegial environment. As an employee-owned company of 120 employees, Glosten is dedicated to solving complex problems and continuous improvement. The firm offers a high level of electrical engineering and controls expertise, with opportunities to work on advancements in hybrid and all-electric vessel propulsion, power electronics for improved efficiency and reliability, and autonomous vehicle technology in the marine industry.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in marine engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical power system components: generators, switchboards, transformers, circuit breakers, motors.
  • Basic knowledge of three phase power system calculations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD program.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. Glosten will only consider applicants with unrestricted access to work in the United States or those eligible for TN visas.
  • Some travel and fieldwork are required.
  • Some project assignments may require a valid driver's license, current passport, and/or TWIC card.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or other experience with electrical power systems and/or industrial control systems is a plus for candidates with a mechanical or marine engineering degree.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Advance the marine industry through work on modern energy storage systems, hybrid and all-electric vessel propulsion, and advances in power electronics.
  • Contribute to designs that can reduce vessel fuel consumption and emissions and increase reliability.
  • Participate in the adaptation of fully autonomous vehicle technology to future vessel concepts.
  • Take on clients' problems as your own and become the clients' advocate.
  • Cultivate long-term client relationships.
  • Identify and pursue internal and external professional growth opportunities, including areas outside of specific discipline.
