About The Position

Manchester Tech Camp is a two-week summer STEAM program for students entering grades 5-12, held at UNH Manchester. The camp aims to foster interest and excitement in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) through interactive, hands-on activities. Counselors will work under the direction of the Camp Manager and/or Camp Director during daytime camp hours (8 am-4:30 pm) and will be expected to adapt to the dynamic needs of each day.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Enthusiasm for working with students in grades 5-12
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to multi-task and learn on-the-job
Ability to take direction as well as self-direct as needed
Adapts to changes in priorities and unplanned challenges
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes loud environment
Successful background check
Must attend a required staff training half-day

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working in a summer camp or similar youth-focused program
STEAM or Education majors encouraged, but not required

Responsibilities

Assisting with camper sign-in/out.
Organizing and/or leading morning and afternoon meetings with campers.
Assisting project leaders and co-leaders with daily activities, including providing coverage for absent staff.
Encouraging campers to engage in activities and lead by example.
Gathering materials for the day and ensuring they are properly returned.
Taking photos of project groups/activities and downloading/organizing them.
Gathering 'blurbs' from project groups for the newsletter.
Assisting the Camp Manager with light office tasks such as making copies, organizing materials, or delivering supplies.
Helping to set up for community showcase events.
Assisting with camp clean-up and breakdown.
Serving as a positive ambassador for the camp and university.
