About The Position

The Manager Trainee is a full-time, entry-level position designed to prepare employees for leadership within 84 Lumber. The role provides structured classroom, online, and hands-on training in store operations, with the goal of promotion to a management position. Promotion may occur within 6–12 months based on performance and position availability, and requires completing the assigned learning plan and course of study within the specified timeframe. Trainees must be willing to relocate for a management position. No prior experience is required; dedication and willingness to learn are emphasized. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Availability for a full-time schedule of 48 or more hours per week, including overtime.

Responsibilities

• Support customers and drive sales in a retail store environment.
• Learn store operations and inventory management, including supply flow, stocking, and merchandising.
• Read blueprints and create material estimates and lists for building projects.
• Learn safe material handling and forklift operation and certification.
• Perform or learn payroll, invoicing, inventory, and POS system tasks.
• Interpret and analyze common financial reports.
• Respond to common customer inquiries and complaints.
• Complete the assigned learning plan and course of study within the required timeframe.
