About The Position

Aecon Telecommunications is seeking a results-driven Regional Manager to lead telecom construction operations across a designated U.S. region. This role is responsible for the overall performance, delivery, and profitability of regional operations, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company objectives. As the primary point of accountability for all job sites within the region, this role will oversee operational execution, financial performance, workforce management, client relationships, and strategic planning while driving budget, schedule, quality, and compliance outcomes. Working closely with executive leadership, union representatives, customers, and field teams, you will play a critical role in delivering operational excellence and supporting the continued growth of the business. Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of industry experience, including progressive operational leadership responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management, including budget, schedule, risk, and stakeholder management.
  • Ability and willingness to travel across the assigned region (multiple states) to support operations, client relationships, workforce management, and business objectives.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and technical standards within one or more of Aecon's operating markets, including Nuclear, Utilities, Rail, and other infrastructure sectors.
  • General knowledge of non-residential construction methods, building systems, and industry terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operational and financial performance of a business, including supporting the General Manager in the development of the annual business plan and the ongoing management of financial performance to ensure business plan targets are being met.
  • Provides overall direction to ensure that bidding strategy is implemented to optimize revenue and margin to meet divisional targets.
  • Reports issues to the General Manager regarding financial performance, workload status, potential legal issues, and potential opportunities.
  • Resolves operational-level legal disputes.
  • Leads a team of supervisors and staff with clearly defined responsibilities covering all aspects of the operation.
  • Provides direct leadership, coaching, and performance management to Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Project Coordinators across the region.
  • Confers with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within the workforce.
  • Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and equipment division representatives to resolve construction issues and improve construction methods.
  • Promotes project profitability, schedule adherence, and customer satisfaction.
  • Recommends recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy.
  • Owns regional forecasting, staffing strategy, succession planning, and customer growth.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with clients, subcontractors, and unions.
  • Accountable for the operational performance, strategic execution, and resource management across multiple states and regional markets.
  • Ensures that all activity in the designated regions is consistent with corporate and divisional strategic plans, business plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Drives exceptional safety performance and culture within the business.
  • Ensures all project reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Oversees testing, quality, and safety.
  • Demonstrates commercial acumen to protect profits and improve margins.
  • Business development, including participation in costing and estimating activities and risk analysis.
  • Financial forecasting and contributing to creation of revenue targets.
  • Overseeing procurement, including materials and subcontractors.
