About The Position

Flexport is seeking a Manager of Regional Ocean Management to oversee a multi-million-dollar Ocean P&L for a district. The role supports global expansion and the growth and profitability of ocean freight operations by scaling volume, increasing yield, applying market expertise, and working strategically with customers. The manager designs tailored products and go-to-market strategies, manages tenders and RFQs, and collaborates with procurement and pricing teams to identify growth opportunities. The position also focuses on improving operational and financial processes, using data to guide decisions, and maintaining the financial health and growth of the district’s book of business. The manager works across Procurement, Pricing, Planning, and District Management teams to deliver globally optimized results. They also develop their team and contribute to the future of Flexport district management. Regional travel is required.

Requirements

At least 5 years of Ocean Freight experience at a top freight forwarder or carrier, or at least 5 years of supply chain experience and a BA/BS degree.
Strategic vision and ability to execute at the ground level.
Bias toward action, process, structure, and data.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Strong commitment to client happiness and success.
Ability to travel regionally.
Willingness to challenge the status quo when logic and reason require it.
Desire to lead, train, and develop up-and-coming talent.

Responsibilities

Manage a sizeable Ocean P&L for the district by scaling volume and increasing yield.
Provide the commercial organization with market-specific intelligence and knowledge of trade idiosyncrasies, and interface directly with customers.
Help design products and create customized go-to-market strategies for customers.
Own district tenders and RFQs to secure regional and global customers.
Work with procurement and pricing teams to drive profitable business, identify growth opportunities, and capture market-specific knowledge.
Identify and drive improvements in go-to-market, operational, and financial processes.
Build and own P&L reviews and actively participate in book-of-business growth rhythms.
Use data to drive decisions.
Help drive near- and long-term district forecasting.
Join client calls on a regular basis.
Drive district financial health levers, including quoting, invoicing, and dispute escalation.
Develop the team and help create the future of Flexport district management.
Work across Procurement, Pricing, Planning, and District Management teams to deliver globally optimized results to the Ocean P&L.
