The Manager in Training (MIT) is a transitional role designed to prepare the employee for promotion into retail store management. Under the Store Manager’s guidance, MITs lead by example and develop leadership, customer service, and operational expertise through hands-on assignments and structured learning. Depending on prior experience and performance, an MIT may progress into management within 8–12 weeks. Progression through the training program is required for consideration for management openings, and promotion is performance-based and subject to management availability. AutoZone’s Store Management team drives store performance, fosters a productive team, and ensures exceptional customer service. Managers and MITs are expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and execute store operations with excellence. AutoZone describes itself as a customer-first retailer and distributor of automotive parts and accessories, with a culture centered on dedication, teamwork, and growth.
