About The Position

Billings Clinic is seeking a Manager, HIM/ROI to join their HEALTH INFO MGMT (HIM) department. This full-time, exempt position is responsible for developing objectives, policies, and procedures for a primary service area within Medical Records to align with the mission, vision, and values of Billings Clinic. The role involves maintaining standards, customer relations, and practice within a designated service line, with accountabilities including quality of services, short and long-range planning, fiscal control, physician and interdepartmental relations, and personnel management. The Manager will work in conjunction with the Director to develop and oversee department cost centers, interpret and support the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic, and collaborate with physician leadership and other healthcare providers to develop and implement plans that enhance department services. This includes leading marketing, program development, and service priorities, coordinating with leadership to ensure continuity in service line/system goals, and developing and maintaining a cost-effective annual budget. The position also involves practicing process improvement principles, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and developing, retaining, recruiting, and leading a talented team. The Manager will adhere to administrative policies, encourage open communication and teamwork, build an environment of shared commitment, provide consultation, and participate in the evaluation, selection, and integration of health care technology and information management systems. The role also requires supporting and modeling behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, and code of business conduct, and meeting all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in health care related field or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Register Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification
  • Three years of experience in the medical records field in a hospital/clinic setting
  • Demonstrated management/leadership and program management skills related to the above tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
  • Employees that require a licensed or certification must be properly licensed/certified and the licensure/certification must be in good standing.

Responsibilities

  • Develops objectives, policies, and procedures for one of the primary service areas within Medical Records to formalize and implement the mission, vision, and values of Billings Clinic.
  • Maintains the standards, customer relations, and practice in a designated service line.
  • Accountabilities include quality of services; short and long range planning to achieve goals and objectives; fiscal control; physician and interdepartmental/intradepartmental relations; personnel management.
  • In conjunction with the Director, develops and oversees department cost centers to ensure adherence to organizational mission, vision, values, strategic goals, and business strategies.
  • Interprets and supports the mission and philosophy of DBC.
  • In collaboration with physician leadership and other medical staff, administration, and other health care providers, develops and implements short and long range plans, and leads, develops and revises programs which enhance department services.
  • In conjunction with the Director, leads department in the overall marketing, program development, and service priorities.
  • Coordinates with physicians and other DBC leadership to assure continuity in pursing service line/system goals and synergy in implementing plans and problem resolution.
  • In conjunction with the Director, develops, implements, and maintains a realistic, cost-effective annual budget.
  • Practices process improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of the service/care provided within the department.
  • Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance for department and ensures compliance of department and staff.
  • Develops, retains, recruits, and leads a talented team committed to accomplishing the goals and objectives of DBC.
  • Recommends, implements, and evaluates plans and systems that assure sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide care/services.
  • Adheres to administrative policies and procedures relating to human resource management.
  • Demonstrates and encourages an ethic of open communication and teamwork throughout the organization.
  • Builds an environment of shared commitment to DBC’s goals and responsibility to achieve quality outcomes.
  • Provides consultation for related concerns and acts as a customer advocate by demonstrating sensitivity to ethical and legal ramifications of practice.
  • Participates in evaluation, selection and integration of health care technology and information management systems that support quality of care/financial needs and the efficient use of resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
