About The Position

The Manager, Flight Maintenance manages all aspects of line maintenance for assigned aircraft and ensures they remain safe, airworthy, reliable, and compliant. The role tracks and coordinates the timely correction of technical discrepancies and provides accurate aircraft status information to operational stakeholders. It involves extensive domestic and international travel to field locations, including remaining away from home during scheduled rotations and flying on company aircraft as assigned. The position follows a 20-days-on/10-days-off rotational schedule. During work rotations, the manager may be dispatched to locations in the United States or internationally according to operational needs. Employees may generally reside anywhere in the United States if they have reliable access to a commercial airport and can meet travel and reporting expectations. The role may require variable hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

At least 10 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
Current and valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
Maintain Atlas Air qualifications and authorizations for Airworthiness Release and ETOPS.
Previous supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance, including mechanical, structural, and avionics systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to coordinate maintenance activity across multiple departments and locations.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly mobile operational environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work a 20-days-on/10-days-off rotational schedule and variable hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, during scheduled rotations.
Ability and willingness to travel on short notice; extensive domestic and international travel is required.
Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.
Valid US driver's license.
Reliable access to a commercial airport and ability to meet travel and reporting expectations.
Legally authorized to work in the United States; employment visa sponsorship and employer immigration support are not available.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
Experience on 747/767 aircraft or equivalent wide-body aircraft.

Responsibilities

Supervise Technical Representatives and/or Line Maintenance Supervisors as assigned.
Coordinate personnel schedules to provide adequate manpower coverage for aircraft maintenance operations.
Ensure safe and efficient maintenance of company aircraft at assigned stations and geographic areas in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Manage, coordinate, and oversee contract line maintenance at assigned stations and geographic areas.
Ensure supervised personnel are trained and qualified under GMM policies and procedures, and monitor their training, qualifications, and proficiency.
Monitor flight schedules and fleet status to make effective use of resources, available ground time, and aircraft routing.
Coordinate line maintenance requirements with the Maintenance Control Center (MCC), Workload Planning, Materials, Quality Control, Aircraft Planning, and other supporting departments.
Maintain surveillance of line maintenance activity at assigned stations and field locations.
Provide resources, leadership, and technical support during major mechanical events and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations.
Identify recurring maintenance issues and recommend changes to improve operational efficiency and aircraft reliability.
Coordinate timely repair of deferred maintenance items on aircraft transiting assigned stations or geographic areas.
Ensure shift turnover and work-interruption procedures are followed so incomplete maintenance work is communicated and completed before aircraft return to service.
Ensure timely return of complete and accurate aircraft maintenance log pages to MCC.
Coordinate with MCC regarding maintenance requirements and aircraft status.
Monitor aircraft mechanical issues and aircraft and powerplant performance, including Repeat Item and Oil Watch Programs.
Develop corrective action plans for mechanical problems and deferred maintenance items in coordination with MCC.
Communicate with Regional Management to support cost-effective use of maintenance resources.
Liaise with Ground Operations and Flight Operations to support safe and dependable operations.
Enforce safety procedures and practices in company manuals and applicable industry standards.
Travel to domestic and international field locations to support aircraft maintenance operations, including performing duties away from home for extended periods during scheduled rotations.
Fly on company aircraft as assigned to support aircraft operations.
Perform self-audits of assigned stations or geographic areas as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Ensure effective communication and application of company values and behavioral standards, and respond appropriately to known departures from those standards.
