About the position
Grammarly is seeking a Manager of Commercial Business Development to join their Sales team. This role will involve managing the existing team of four North American commercial BDRs, formalizing this segment, integrating lead development motions with marketing and sales workflows, and optimizing team performance to support growth goals. The Manager of Commercial Business Development will have high visibility and their work will be a primary source of learning for other teams and departments. The successful candidate will be evaluated and compensated based on team performance, closed deals, and their embodiment of Grammarly's EAGER values.
Responsibilities
- Manage the North American BDR team for Grammarly Business
- Formalize the segment and integrate lead development motions with marketing and sales workflows
- Optimize the team's performance to support growth goals
- Establish command over the product, first-meeting doc, pitch, demo, and Command of the Message framework
- Understand core BDR metrics and drivers, and develop hypotheses for improvement areas
- Establish operating cadence and reporting for day-to-day execution
- Implement initiatives targeting improvements in crucial drivers of BDR productivity
- Optimize and enhance productivity per representative and team by understanding key inputs and critical drivers of pipeline generation
- Penetrate companies and capture opportunities that generate new relationships for the Sales team
- Execute outbound lead generation campaigns targeting VP+ prospects and middle management
- Sell on business value rather than a feature list
- Use systems (e.g., CRM) for pipeline management, lead routing, and related tasks
- Consider, play out, and weigh alternative scenarios based on strategic objectives
- Set and pursue aggressive short- and long-term goals
- Develop and deepen relationships with people based on understanding their motivations, fears, and aspirations.
Requirements
- Must be able to collaborate in person in San Francisco or New York City and potentially other hubs 4 weeks per quarter
- Experience penetrating companies and generating new relationships for the Sales team
- Experience with VP+ prospects and middle management (director/manager)
- Ability to sell on business value rather than a feature list
- Proficient in using systems (e.g., CRM) for pipeline management, lead routing, and related tasks
- Ability to consider, play out, and weigh alternative scenarios based on strategic objectives
- Strong goal-setting and pursuit skills
- Ability to develop and deepen relationships based on understanding motivations, fears, and aspirations
