About The Position

Caregiver Relief Services at Parc Center for Disabilities is seeking a Male-Respite Care Partner for a part-time, non-exempt position serving families throughout Pinellas County. This role provides compassionate in-home respite care to children with developmental delays and disabilities, allowing their caregivers to take a break. The position offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to make a significant impact in the community. The Caregiver Relief Respite Care Partner supports children with developmental delays, disabilities, and trauma-related needs in home and community settings, acting as a dependable and compassionate individual who enjoys mentoring youth, building positive relationships, and providing safe, engaging, and individualized care. Family Care Partners are matched with families based on skills, experience, and location to ensure a good fit and continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Compassionate, dependable male role models who enjoy working with children and young adults with disabilities
  • Strong communication and professionalism
  • Ability to work independently in home and community settings
  • Flexible availability, including evenings or weekends preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to pass required background screening
  • Compliance with Drug-Free Workplace standards
  • Must work at least one weekend day per month
  • Minimum of 10 hours worked per month
  • Ability to observe, see, hear, and respond to children’s needs, emergencies, and conflicts
  • Ability to lift at least 45 pounds from floor to waist height
  • Ability to reach a child 20–30 feet away within 30 seconds
  • Ability to crouch, sit on the floor, maintain eye contact at a child’s level, and transition quickly between positions
  • Physical, visual, and auditory awareness of children’s cognitive, social, and physical needs
  • This position requires screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

  • Experience in childcare, healthcare, education, or disability support preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Provide short-term, one-on-one care to individuals with disabilities in their home or community
  • Follow individualized care plans to provide safe, consistent, and engaging support
  • Assist with daily activities including supervision, meal preparation, personal care, and recreational outings
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interaction
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals during scheduled visits
  • Communicate professionally with families and program staff regarding needs or concerns
  • Complete required documentation and accurately track service hours
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all agency policies and procedures
