About The Position

The Maintenance position is part of the DoubleTree Rapid City Engineering team, which maintains plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other systems through preventive maintenance and regular upkeep. The role helps keep guest rooms, public spaces, equipment, and grounds safe, attractive, comfortable, and functional. The employee is expected to keep workspaces, tools, supplies, and projects organized, and to communicate courteously with guests and hotel departments in accordance with Hilton brand standards.

Requirements

• Practical experience with building repairs and maintenance, along with an openness and desire to learn.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, interpret work orders, and follow equipment and chemical instructions.
• Basic troubleshooting and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to self-manage projects or work as part of a team.
• Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, or occasional emergency calls.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and using equipment to move heavier items.

Responsibilities

• Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces for maintenance and appearance needs.
• Complete preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements involving fixtures, lighting, door hardware, furniture, paint, sealants, and flooring.
• Troubleshoot and maintain HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and other building systems.
• Use an electronic device application to record work-order and preventive-maintenance status.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and keep tools and supplies ready to use and well-stocked.
• Notify management of major repair needs, hazards, safety concerns, stock needs, and room conditions.
• Communicate courteously with guests and hotel departments while following Hilton brand standards.
• Assist the Banquet department with decor needs involving high places, heavy items, wall changes, or other areas requiring maintenance assistance or guidance.
