About The Position

The Endoscopy Technician assists physicians and registered nurses in providing efficient, effective, and safe patient care appropriate to GI procedures, following SGNA, ASGE, and infection-control standards. The role is an essential member of the care team and prioritizes patient safety while supporting procedure-room operations.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department.
Heavy-work capacity: exert up to 25 pounds constantly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally or seldomly to move objects.
Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.

Nice To Haves

SGNA certification.
Certification from an accredited university or accredited training professionals.
At least 1 year of endoscopy experience.

Responsibilities

Clean, disinfect, and maintain equipment according to SGNA Standards of Practice, with patient safety as the priority.
Ensure equipment and supplies are available as needed to provide safe, cost-effective patient care.
Perform required technical procedures safely, effectively, and professionally.
Anticipate physician and RN needs and take timely action during each procedure.
Perform appropriate checks when setting up equipment for GI procedures.
Keep BLS certification current and assist during emergencies when needed.
Report actual or potential problems to the appropriate individuals.
Set up selected equipment and supplies for endoscopy procedures and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions using basic problem-solving knowledge.
Support unit workflow by cleaning and restocking procedure rooms after each patient and assisting the RN with chargeable supplies to ensure charge capture.
Perform other duties as assigned.
