Reporting directly to the Facilities Operations and Project Manager, the Maintenance and Facilities Foreman serves as the working lead responsible for coordinating daily maintenance and facility activities. This role ensures that facility systems, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure function safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational goals. The Foreman acts as the first-line leader for facilities technicians—assigning work, overseeing execution, supporting troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and preventive maintenance programs. While the Manager oversees strategy, capital projects, and department-wide planning, the Foreman ensures daily operational execution and team coordination. This role is hands-on, supporting complex repairs and guiding technicians through technical tasks while ensuring consistent communication and smooth operations across shifts.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, or high-humidity environments as needed.
  • Proficiency with all MS Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.).
  • Proficient ability to communicate with clients, internal and external.
  • Proficient organizational skills and multi-tasking of projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization.
  • Working knowledge of mathematical, statistical, and financial skills and understanding.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training.
  • 5+ years of maintenance or facilities experience in a manufacturing environment (food/baking industry preferred).
  • experience as a lead technician, senior tech, or working foreman strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and building systems.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and preventive maintenance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily direction to Facilities Technicians, ensuring work orders are prioritized and completed on time.
  • Assign tasks based on technician skill level, equipment needs, and production priorities.
  • Act as the primary on-shift point of contact for facilities maintenance issues, escalating to the Facilities Operations and Project Manager as needed.
  • Coach, mentor, and support facilities technicians, reinforcing safe work practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new facilities technicians.
  • Oversee routine and preventive maintenance on building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, utility systems, and general infrastructure.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ensure technicians follow proper PM/PdM procedures and document work accurately.
  • Conduct facility walk-throughs to identify hazards, needed repairs, or process improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA, EPA, food safety, SQF, and internal company standards.
  • Reinforce proper use of LOTO, PPE, and safe maintenance methods.
  • Support and maintain documentation required for audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and report incidents promptly.
  • Communicate equipment status, downtime risks, and work order progress to the Facilities Operations & Project Manager and Production leadership.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Sanitation, and Production to minimize disruptions.
  • Work closely with contractors and vendors performing facility repairs or services.
  • Support shift meetings and provide clear handoff notes between teams.
  • Maintain accurate CMMS entries and verify technician work order documentation.
  • Assist the Manager with small-scale project planning, equipment installations, and facility modifications.
  • Participate in TPM activities and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Help manage spare parts, tool control, and maintenance supplies.
  • Enforces Federal, State, City and A.I.B. Health and Safety Standards, including OSHA (State and/or Federal) and Hazardous Material regulation, in keeping with the work process and chemical inventory by location.
  • Promotes safety in the work area by understanding and following safety procedures and reporting all accidents in a timely manner. Ensures that contractors follow all company policies and carries out the safety program.
  • Responsible for Quality and Food Safety functions (reporting all quality and food safety concerns/issues to QA) as assigned and outlined in Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this role.
