Requirements

2-3 years of experience in industrial or heavy equipment maintenance (port, marine, warehousing, or logistics environment preferred)
2+ years in a supervisory or lead hand role
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance documentation
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
High attention to safety and detail
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 operational environment

Nice To Haves

Experience with forklifts, cranes, or terminal handling equipment considered a strong asset
Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is an asset
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is an asset depending on location

Responsibilities

Supervise, assign, and coordinate daily tasks for maintenance technicians and mechanics
Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to the team
Ensure shift coverage and prioritize urgent breakdowns or operational needs
Conduct daily toolbox talks and reinforce safety expectations
Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy equipment (forklifts, reach stackers, loaders, excavators, hoppers, crane buckets and hoppers)
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
Ensure timely repair of equipment to minimize operational downtime
Review work orders and ensure accurate completion and documentation
Enforce strict adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
Conduct inspections to ensure equipment meets safety and operational standards
Participate in incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions
Promote a strong safety-first culture across the maintenance team
Coordinate with operations to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption
Assist in planning preventative maintenance programs and equipment servicing schedules
Communicate equipment status and repair timelines to management
Monitor parts, tools, and supply usage
Coordinate with procurement for ordering replacement parts and materials
Ensure proper use and care of maintenance tools and equipment
