About The Position

Stella-Jones is seeking a Maintenance 1 Technician for its crosstie operations in Clanton, Alabama. The role maintains property, plant, and equipment productively, efficiently, and safely. The technician inspects, services, repairs, and constructs plant processing equipment and performs related maintenance, documentation, inventory, and safety work. Requirements

Two years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with hydraulics, electrical systems, pumps, valves, and welding.
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Experience fabricating and welding various metals, including pipe welding.
Ability to address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to read schematics and electrical drawings.
Strong communication skills.

Nice To Haves

One-year certificate from a college or technical school preferred.
Basic mechanical knowledge in the wood industry preferred.

Responsibilities

Inspect, service, repair, and construct plant processing equipment, including structures, utilities, loaders, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical and mechanical equipment, and pressure vessels throughout the plant.
Use welding and fabrication tools to alter, repair, and fabricate processing equipment.
Manage inventory of serviceable parts required to maintain equipment.
Perform the company’s Preventative Maintenance Program.
Document and report maintenance work performed and advise of future requirements in a timely manner.
Participate in and contribute to the company safety program.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
