About The Position

Bradford Company is a family-owned and operated business located in Gallatin, TN. We're currently looking for hardworking and reliable production machine operators to become part of our dedicated team. This role involves setting up and safely operating a variety of machines, including Edge Sealer, Band Saw, Framer, C-Slotter, Die Press, and CNC Router. Operators will start, stop, load, and feed these machines, and are expected to have intimate knowledge of at least one piece of equipment.

Requirements

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to use and read a tape measure.
  • Attention to detail and strong reliability.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience and/or training preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and 5S workplace organization standards is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Machine preparation and set-up.
  • Producing a quality part and inspecting parts using a tape measure, gauges (if required) and completing first piece inspections as required.
  • Material handling and removal of scrap carts.
  • Recognizing and reporting obvious quality problems or variations from specifications for the parts being run.
  • Recording and reporting times, materials produced, and scrap.
  • Recording and reporting production and/or equipment problems.
  • Responsible for instruction and safety of catcher if present.
  • Practicing and promoting safe work practices and intimately understanding the safety equipment of the machine (e.g., curtains and safety mats if present).
  • Maintaining a satisfactory productivity rating.
  • Proactively helping to create and work within a team-based environment and practicing effective communication skills.
  • Training other team members and retaining and applying job knowledge.
  • Demonstrating good problem-solving skills.
  • Notifying appropriate personnel of machine repairs and/or any unsafe conditions.
  • Possessing a working knowledge of material/inventory identification.
  • Requisitioning parts and supplies.
  • Working from a manufacturing requirements schedule.
  • Performing routine preventive maintenance as necessary.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
