About The Position

The Loss Prevention Specialist helps create a safe, secure, and compliant store environment by protecting people, assets, and company integrity. The role focuses on deterring theft, supporting compliance, reducing shrink, and promoting operational excellence while providing a safe environment for customers, associates, and vendors. The work takes place in a dynamic, fast-paced store environment.

The specialist maintains a visible presence, monitors checkout and other store areas, investigates suspicious activity and incidents, and supports loss prevention, safety, and compliance practices. The position requires flexible availability for varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel is not required.

• Basic understanding of legal requirements and interaction with law enforcement.
• Knowledge of cash-handling practices and POS transaction review.
• Knowledge of safety, compliance, and operational standards.
• Strong situational awareness and ability to quickly assess and respond to safety or security concerns.
• Analytical thinking to identify irregular activity and interpret POS or operational data.
• Ability to document investigations clearly, accurately, and professionally.
• Comfort operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting surveillance and security equipment.
• Ability to remain alert and engaged during extended periods of standing or walking.
• Ability to respond effectively and decisively in emergency or high-risk situations.
• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and ability to work varied schedules.
• Reliable attendance and adherence to company safety, loss prevention, and conduct policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible presence to support a safe and secure store environment while providing excellent customer service.
• Monitor checkout areas and review exception reports to identify fraud, associate dishonesty, and cash-handling policy violations.
• Conduct store surveillance to detect theft, safety risks, and operational issues.
• Apprehend individuals committing theft in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, while ensuring the safety of all parties.
• Respond to electronic article surveillance (EAS) alarms and investigate incidents.
• Monitor receiving and storage areas and conduct delivery audits to detect vendor fraud and ensure procedural compliance.
• Conduct shrink-control, safety, and physical-security inspections and audits; document and communicate findings.
• Maintain and operate asset protection equipment, including CCTV, EAS systems, and alarm systems.
• Conduct investigations as directed, document them thoroughly, and partner with store leadership and law enforcement as needed.
• Train and communicate with associates on loss prevention, safety, and compliance practices, and identify and address unsafe conditions.
