About The Position
The Loss Prevention Specialist is responsible for the daily maintenance of store loss prevention and safety programs and maintains a positive relationship with Store Management. The role coordinates assigned Store Detectives’ activities to maximize loss prevention impact. It supports store shrink reduction goals, helps maintain a safe environment, and adheres to labor laws, policies, and procedures. The position also provides timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to internal and external customers while promoting honesty, integrity, and confidentiality.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills and good judgment.
- Ability to respond appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations.
- Ability to work effectively with peers and supervisors.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to support business needs.
- 3–6 months as a Store Detective or other retail loss prevention experience.
Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
- Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to internal and external customers.
- Promote a culture of honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
- Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
- Initiate investigations and surveillance.
- Ensure Loss Prevention scheduling supports store needs.
- Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law enforcement procedures, and participate in legal activities as needed, including police calls.
- Communicate loss prevention concerns to management effectively.
- Coordinate shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
- Coordinate and conduct loss prevention orientations for new store Associates.
- Ensure regular fire and safety inspections are conducted and communicate results to Management.
- Maintain an effective relationship with local law enforcement agencies.
- Adhere to all labor laws, policies, and procedures.
- Support and participate in store shrink reduction goals and programs.
- Encourage Associate use of shrink reduction resources.
- Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
