About The Position

Goodwill Southwest Florida is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Loss Prevention Specialist to support safety, security, and asset protection across retail locations in Southwest Florida. The role focuses on preventing theft and fraud, conducting investigations, supporting store teams through training, and maintaining a safe environment for customers and employees. It requires strong observational skills, sound judgment, and professional handling of sensitive situations while supporting Goodwill's community mission. The specialist conducts surveillance and investigations, detains shoplifters in accordance with company procedures, documents incidents, and maintains case files. The position also includes inventory audits, associate training, safety monitoring, bag checks, coordination with law enforcement, and court representation when required. Regional coverage may require support for store operations during evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Requirements

Knowledge of loss prevention strategies, surveillance methods, and retail security practices.
Strong observational, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
Ability to remain calm and act professionally during emergencies or high-pressure situations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across teams and with external partners.
High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
High school diploma required.
Minimum of one year of experience in loss prevention, asset protection, or security.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree preferred.
Retail experience preferred.
Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

Conduct on-site and CCTV surveillance to identify suspicious activity and potential risks.
Investigate reported theft, fraud, and other losses.
Apprehend and detain shoplifters in accordance with company policy and procedures.
Recover merchandise and document incidents within 24 hours.
Maintain accurate case files and follow up with law enforcement and legal proceedings as needed.
Partner with law enforcement agencies and represent Goodwill in court when required.
Conduct inventory audits and assist with loss prevention initiatives across locations.
Train and coach store associates on loss prevention techniques and awareness programs.
Monitor store safety conditions and address potential hazards or risks.
Perform bag checks in accordance with company policies.
Maintain strict confidentiality when handling investigations and sensitive information.
Support safe and secure store operations, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
