About The Position

The Loss Prevention Specialist is responsible for daily maintenance of store loss prevention and safety programs. The role maintains a positive relationship with Store Management and coordinates assigned Store Detectives’ activities to maximize loss prevention impact. It provides courteous, knowledgeable service to internal and external customers while promoting honesty, integrity, and confidentiality. The position observes, apprehends, or deters acts of dishonesty; initiates investigations and surveillance; and ensures apprehensions follow established guidelines and are consistent with store theft activity. It coordinates shrink-related activities with Store Management, supports shrink reduction goals, conducts loss prevention orientations for new Associates, and helps promote safety awareness. The Specialist also completes required paperwork, maintains evidence, communicates concerns and inspection results to Management, and works with local law enforcement as needed.

3–6 months as a Store Detective or other retail loss prevention experience.

Responsibilities

Maintain daily store loss prevention and safety programs.
Maintain positive relationships with Store Management and coordinate assigned Store Detectives’ activities.
Ensure adherence to shoplifter guidelines and policies.
Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to internal and external customers.
Promote honesty, integrity, and confidentiality.
Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources and ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
Initiate investigations and surveillance.
Ensure Loss Prevention scheduling supports store needs.
Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and promptly.
Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law enforcement procedures, and participate in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
Communicate loss prevention concerns to Management.
Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
Coordinate and conduct loss prevention orientations for new store Associates.
Ensure regular fire and safety inspections are conducted and communicate results to Management.
Maintain effective relationships with local law enforcement agencies.
Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Support and participate in store shrink reduction goals and programs, and encourage Associate use of shrink reduction resources.
Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
