Loss Prevention Detective
About The Position
The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks related to store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role helps prevent and investigate internal and external theft, supports shrink-reduction initiatives, and promotes a safe store environment. It involves observing, deterring, and apprehending suspected shoplifters in accordance with established policies and guidelines; participating in investigations and surveillance as assigned; and handling evidence and related paperwork accurately and professionally. The detective also communicates with Associates about damage and shrink initiatives, coordinates shrink-related activities with Store Management, and provides courteous, knowledgeable customer service.

Responsibilities
- Complete daily tasks required for Store Loss Prevention and safety programs.
- Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
- Conduct apprehensions in accordance with established policies, guidelines, and shoplifter procedures.
- Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
- Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
- Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
- Promote honesty and integrity while maintaining confidentiality.
- Observe, apprehend, or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
- Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
- Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
- Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
- Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
- Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
- Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
- Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
- Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
