Loss Prevention Detective
About The Position
The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role conducts apprehensions within established policies and guidelines, communicates with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives, and identifies and resolves internal and external theft. The position supports shrink reduction goals, promotes a safe store environment, and delivers courteous, knowledgeable customer service. The detective participates in investigations and surveillance as assigned; observes, apprehends, or deters dishonesty; and ensures apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity. The role completes and distributes paperwork accurately and promptly, maintains appropriate evidence, understands law enforcement procedures, and participates professionally in legal activities as needed. It also coordinates shrink-related activities with Store Management, encourages Associates to use shrink-reduction resources, and follows applicable labor laws, policies, and procedures.

- 0–2 years of retail or security experience.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily tasks required for Store Loss Prevention and safety programs.
- Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
- Conduct apprehensions within established policies and guidelines.
- Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
- Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
- Adhere to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
- Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
- Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
- Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
- Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
- Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and on time.
- Maintain appropriate evidence, demonstrate understanding of law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed.
- Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
- Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
- Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
- Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
- Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
