About The Position

The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role conducts apprehensions according to established policies and guidelines, communicates with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives, and identifies and resolves internal and external theft. The position supports store shrink-reduction goals and programs, coordinates shrink-related activities with Store Management, participates in investigations and surveillance, and promotes safety awareness. It also provides courteous, knowledgeable customer service and helps maintain a safe environment. The role requires accurate and timely paperwork, appropriate handling of evidence, and professional participation in legal activities as needed, including police calls. The role is based at Marshalls Store 1618 in Portland, Oregon. The starting pay range is $16.80 to $20.40 per hour; actual starting pay depends on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities

Complete daily tasks for Store Loss Prevention and safety programs.
Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
Conduct apprehensions within established policies and guidelines and ensure they are consistent with store theft activity.
Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
Adhere to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
Promote honesty and integrity, and maintain confidentiality.
Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and on time.
Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
Encourage Associates to use shrink-reduction resources.
Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
