About The Position

The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks supporting store loss prevention and safety programs. The role maintains positive relationships with Store Management, conducts apprehensions according to established policies and guidelines, and works with Associates on damage and shrink initiatives. The Detective identifies and resolves internal and external theft, observes and deters dishonest activity, and participates in investigations and surveillance as assigned. The position supports shrink reduction and safety goals, provides timely and knowledgeable customer service, and promotes honesty, integrity, and confidentiality. It also involves completing accurate and timely paperwork, maintaining evidence, understanding law enforcement procedures, and participating professionally in legal activities as needed. The role is based at Marshalls Store 0061 in Medford, Massachusetts. Starting pay is $16.25–$20.40 per hour; actual pay depends on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities

Complete daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs.
Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
Conduct apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
Adhere to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
Provide customers with timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service.
Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
Observe, apprehend, and/or deter dishonest acts from outside sources.
Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and on time.
Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
Encourage Associates to use shrink-reduction resources.
Promote safety awareness and support a safe environment.
