About The Position

The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role helps identify and resolve internal and external theft, supports shrink-reduction initiatives, and promotes a culture of honesty, integrity, and safety. It provides timely, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service and maintains confidentiality.

The position involves observing, deterring, and apprehending individuals in accordance with established policies and shoplifter guidelines; participating in investigations and surveillance as assigned; and ensuring apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity. The Detective also completes accurate and timely paperwork, maintains evidence, demonstrates understanding of law enforcement procedures, and participates professionally in legal activities as needed. The role coordinates shrink-related activities with Store Management, supports store shrink-reduction goals, encourages Associates to use shrink-reduction resources, and adheres to labor laws, policies, and procedures.

The position is at TJ Maxx Store 0129, 615 Bel Air Road, Bel Air, Maryland. Starting pay is $15.25 to $20.40 per hour, with actual pay based on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs.
• Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
• Conduct apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
• Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
• Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
• Adhere to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
• Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
• Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
• Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
• Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
• Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
• Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and on time.
• Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed.
• Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
• Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
• Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
• Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
• Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
