About The Position

Morgan Advanced Materials is a global organization with a rich history and a purpose-driven approach to using advanced materials to improve the world and quality of life. The Thermal Ceramics division specializes in thermal insulation products that reduce energy consumption and emissions. This Logistics Coordinator position will report to the Logistics Supervisor and will assist in the procedures and functions involving the movement of inbound, outbound, domestic, and export shipments of materials and products.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience in transportation logistics, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Outstanding cross-functional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department within a manufacturing environment and wear, when required, personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear plugs and safety shoes.
  • Respirators may be required in specific areas of the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all shipping responsibilities between Customer Service, Purchasing, and Materials Control.
  • Coordinate and input the receipt of products received from inbound cargo.
  • Calculate rates and discounts with the LTL carriers and obtain rate information for full truck load carriers.
  • Pre-plan job shipments using information supplied by Materials Control and Customer Service including estimating the size and weight of the job shipment prepare all appropriate documents for the shipment then contact the carrier and prepare the final bill of lading.
  • Print shipping labels to be included on the shipment parcels. Prepare all documents, manifests, etc., for export shipments.
  • Interaction with Supply Planner’s regarding scheduling of manufacturing/receipt of products for shipment.
  • Coordination with CSR’s regarding import/export receipt and shipment of products.
  • Constant communication with CSR and customer for resolutions of shipments.
  • Provide the CSR’S with electronic copies of bills of lading, etc., relative to job shipments.
  • Provide Accounting with the correct charges for each shipment so that the jobs can be properly billed; provide other copies to appropriate areas.
  • Arrange for carriers for TOS pick-up and customer orders, such as blanket fiber from Augusta. Maintain files on all orders.
  • Maintain good working relations with all freight carriers.
  • Emergency shipments require the ability to respond to call-ins and overtime with short notice.
  • Requires ability to cross train to fill for absentee employees, invoicing of daily job shipments and matching of invoices with purchases orders for incoming materials.
  • Process all shipments through the Bill of Lading process so that all shipments will invoice properly for accounting jobs nightly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
