CDL A or B Local Delivery Driver
About The Position
The CDL A or B Local Delivery Driver makes safe, complete, accurate, and on-time deliveries to customers while complying with Department of Transportation and other applicable regulations. Deliveries are local, and drivers are home every night. The position is a dayshift role in Jacksonville, Florida, with at least 40 hours guaranteed per week, whether or not weather allows deliveries. Safe driving and exceptional performance may be recognized through bonus programs. The driver plans effective delivery routes; loads and unloads products, securing them properly and separating hazardous materials as appropriate; collects payments and documents deliveries; and completes pre-trip and post-trip inspections. The driver also reports maintenance needs, keeps the vehicle clean and presentable, builds job and product knowledge, and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Hold a valid commercial driver's license; a HAZMAT endorsement is preferred.
- Have an MVR and PSP showing no more than two combined violations or at-fault accidents in the past three years.
- Be able to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Have excellent customer service skills.
- Have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Be able to carry out instructions with minimal supervision.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with PCs and other material handling equipment.
- Moffett, Skelly, or air brake experience.
- A HAZMAT endorsement.
Responsibilities
- Make deliveries using effective routes to ensure orders arrive on time.
- Load and unload the vehicle, secure products properly, and separate hazardous material appropriately.
- Collect payments and accurately document deliveries.
- Comply with state and federal regulations, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and inform a supervisor of maintenance needs.
- Keep the vehicle clean, well-maintained, and presentable.
- Increase job and product knowledge on an ongoing basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
