About The Position

Creative Dining is hiring a full-time Line Server for Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Line Server distributes food to customers in a cafeteria setting and provides fast, efficient service with a friendly and helpful attitude. The role follows company policies and procedures, including portion control, plating, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

The position includes preparing and maintaining food service stations, serving meals, monitoring food quality and temperature, communicating with kitchen staff, and cleaning and restocking service lines. Employees working in a lead role also provide direction and instructions, keep management informed about operations, and refer issues or concerns to a higher-level manager or supervisor.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience required.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to students, customers, and guests.
• Set up the station before meal service, including hot and cold menu items according to setup diagrams, and learn the names of the items being served.
• Set up appropriate condiments and other meal items by checking the menu.
• Garnish lines and pans as directed by management.
• Use gloves and utensils properly; follow portion sizes; monitor hot and cold food temperatures; and present food attractively.
• Communicate promptly with kitchen staff about the amount and quality of food available.
• Maintain sanitation according to company, state, and federal guidelines; keep sanitizing solution behind the lines; and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Return unserved food to the kitchen for proper storage.
• Break down, clean, and restock service lines.
• Assist with general cleaning duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• For lead roles, provide leadership and instruction, keep management apprised of overall operations, and refer issues or concerns to a higher-level manager or supervisor.
