About The Position

Davey Utility Line Clearance, a division of The Davey Tree Expert Company, is hiring an experienced Trimmer to service the city of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, with additional locations in Hudson, Ohio. The role performs tree pruning and removal for major electric utility providers. Climbing experience and/or a commercial driver’s license are preferred. The position is on site, full time, hourly, and permanent, with travel expectations of up to 25%. The starting hourly rate is $20, with compensation based on qualifications and experience. The job involves working outdoors as an active crew member alongside ground crew and a foreperson. The company provides training in climbing systems, including DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS, and requires completion of its Trimmer Orientation Program, First Aid and CPR course, and defensive driving course upon hire.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.
Love of the outdoors.

Nice To Haves

Climbing experience.
Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B) with Air Brake Endorsement.
Line clearance experience or other related tree work.
Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.
ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®.

Responsibilities

Safely and skillfully perform tree pruning and removal services for major electric utility providers.
Prune treetops and repair damaged trees by trimming or removing them.
Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects.
Apply tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines.
Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
Work as an active crew member supporting the ground crew and foreperson.
