About The Position

Davey Utility Line Clearance, a division of The Davey Tree Expert Company, is hiring a Groundperson to support a crew serving the Guernsey and Tuscarawas County regions of Ohio, including Cambridge, Dover, and New Philadelphia. This is a full-time, hourly, on-site position. Travel expectations are up to 25%. The role supports tree workers and other crew members during utility line-clearance work and helps keep the worksite orderly and safe. The offered hourly rate is $18.00–$20.00, based on line-clearance or industry experience and CDL status. Compensation is based on qualifications and experience, and the position includes a performance incentive plan. Davey describes the employment as permanent and offers industry-related and company training.

Requirements

A driver’s license is required.
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
A commercial driver’s license is preferred and may be required depending on job requirements.
Obtain a pesticide license if required by state law.
Obtain line-clearance certification if working near utility transmission lines.
ISA Certified Tree Worker certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Responsibilities

Support other crew members by controlling lowering ropes, limbs, and people working aloft.
Supply tools to tree workers.
Control road and sidewalk traffic as needed using warning devices and other methods.
Cut, chip, and load brush and wood.
Clean up the job site properly.
