About The Position

The Groundperson assists climbers, foremen, and other crew members in safely and skillfully performing tree pruning and removal services for clients. Work includes pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood throughout tree canopies; installing cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems; and removing hazardous trees. The Groundperson properly maintains, prepares, and operates tools and equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts. The role is based outdoors at an onsite work site in Needham, Massachusetts. Compensation is $23–$27 per hour, based on experience.

Requirements

A love of the outdoors.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Assist climbers, foremen, and other crew members.
Perform tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully.
Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout tree canopies.
Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
Remove hazardous trees.
Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
