About The Position

Davey Utility Line Clearance, a division of The Davey Tree Expert Company, is hiring a Groundperson to support utility line clearance crews. The role assists other crew members with work performed aloft, supplies tools, helps control road and sidewalk traffic, and processes brush and wood while keeping the job site clean. The position is onsite in Richmond, Virginia, with travel expectations of up to 25%.

Requirements

A driver’s license is required.
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
A commercial driver’s license is preferred and may be required depending on job requirements.
A pesticide license is required if mandated by state law.
A line clearance certification is required when working near utility transmission lines.
ISA Certified Tree Worker certification or willingness to obtain it.

Responsibilities

Support crew members by controlling lowering ropes, limbs, and people working aloft.
Supply tools to tree workers.
Control road and sidewalk traffic as needed using warning devices and other methods.
Cut, chip, and load brush and wood, and properly clean up the job site.
