About The Position

Davey Utility Line Clearance, a division of The Davey Tree Expert Company, is hiring a Groundperson to support utility line clearance crews. The role provides assistance to crew members working aloft and helps maintain safe, clean job sites. The position is on site in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and candidates must live within 30 minutes of that location. This is a new contract scheduled to start on January 1, 2027. The position is permanent and full time, with travel expectations of up to 25%.

Requirements

Live within 30 minutes of South Hadley, Massachusetts.
Have a driver’s license.
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Commercial driver’s license is preferred and may be required depending on job requirements.
Obtain or hold a pesticide license if required by state law.
Hold ISA Certified Tree Worker certification or be willing to obtain it.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Support other crew members by controlling lowering ropes, limbs, and people working aloft.
Supply tools to tree workers.
Control road and sidewalk traffic as needed using warning devices and other methods.
Cut, chip, and load brush and wood, and properly clean up job sites.
