About The Position

The Groundperson assists climbers, forepersons, and other crew members in safely and skillfully performing tree pruning and removal services for major electric utility providers. This is a permanent, full-time, onsite position based in Cypress, Texas, with additional locations in Houston, Texas, and travel expectations of up to 25%. The role provides job-specific equipment and safety gear. A $1,000 sign-on bonus may be available depending on skills and experience.

Requirements

Love of the outdoors.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.
Valid Texas driver’s license.
Chipper equipment experience.

Nice To Haves

Commercial Driver’s License—Class A or B without an air brake restriction.
Line clearance experience or other related tree work.
Relevant pesticide and/or herbicide licenses and certificates, if required by state law.
ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®.

Responsibilities

Assist climbers, forepersons, and other crew members with tree pruning and removal services.
Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
Direct road and sidewalk traffic as needed using warning devices and other methods.
Haul and chip brush and debris, and blow sawdust to leave the work site clean and tidy.
