About The Position

The Lighting Technician supports Silver Dollar City’s live entertainment experiences by ensuring exceptional lighting quality for shows, special events, and daily entertainment offerings. This role creates memorable guest experiences by delivering reliable, safe, and professional lighting support.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Four years of previous experience or bachelor's degree.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and work effectively under pressure.
  • Commitment to teamwork, guest focus, and the company’s mission of creating memories worth repeating.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must regularly: lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, stand and walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear.
  • The employee must frequently: climb ladders, balance, work 30 feet above the ground on a catwalk.
  • The employee must occasionally: lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience busking/programming live lighting in a theatrical, concert, or entertainment setting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Hog Lighting Program on PC, Hoglet 4 Console or Road Hog Console if possible.

Responsibilities

  • Operate lighting consoles and computer programs for live performances, festivals, and special events.
  • Perform lamp checks for venues that you are a part of.
  • Troubleshoot lighting issues quickly and effectively to maintain show quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Set up a light plot and be able to identify fixtures that are needed within said plot, identifying gel needs and cutting them to size/installing them.
  • Maintain, clean, and store equipment according to departmental standards.
  • Assist with cabling, patching, and routing DMX.
  • Identify and report equipment repair needs; assist with basic repairs when appropriate.
  • Work alongside stage managers, performers, technicians, and leadership to ensure smooth show operations.
  • Attend rehearsals and production meetings as needed.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with teammates and performers.
  • Support other technical areas (audio, staging, video) when needed, fostering a collaborative team environment.
