About The Position

The City of Pasadena Parks & Recreation Department is hiring seasonal pooled aquatics lifeguards. The primary responsibility is to ensure patron safety and protect lives by preventing injuries, enforcing facility rules, responding to emergencies, and providing first aid, CPR, or AED assistance as needed. Lifeguards may work up to 39 hours per week, with schedules varying by pool site. Shifts may begin as early as 7:00 a.m. or end as late as 9:00 p.m. Weekly in-service trainings are mandatory.

Requirements

American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification.
CPR with AED certification.
First Aid certification.
Blood borne pathogens (BBP) certification.
Water Park certification.
Maintain required licenses, certifications, clearances, and job requirements without interruption.
Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policies.
Attend mandatory weekly in-service trainings.

Responsibilities

Prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.
Enforce facility rules and regulations and educate patrons about them.
Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
Administer first aid, CPR, or use an AED in an emergency when needed.
Inform staff and managers when additional help or equipment is needed.
Complete incident reports.
Perform cleaning tasks as assigned by upper management.
Inspect the facility and equipment daily and report safety issues.
Maintain swimming skills, strength, and endurance.
Display customer service through greetings, surveys, and acknowledgments.
Address customer concerns promptly and provide feedback to support customer satisfaction.
Attend and actively participate in weekly and city-wide in-service trainings.
Maintain all required licenses, certifications, clearances, and job requirements without interruption.
Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policies.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
