Lifecycle Marketing Specialist

Memphis Grizzlies•Memphis, TN

About The Position

The Lifecycle Marketing Specialist owns email and SMS campaigns across the Memphis Basketball brands: the Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis Hustle, Grind City Media, and FedExForum. The role plans and executes email strategy, reports on campaign KPIs, and manages the SMS program in partnership with the Marketing Director. It focuses on using lifecycle marketing as a system to engage fans and grow revenue, rather than simply scheduling sends. The specialist develops lifecycle and SMS strategies; builds campaigns, audience journeys, nurture streams, triggered and behavioral flows, retention programs, and win-back campaigns; and ensures campaign accuracy, deliverability, compliance, and timely execution. The role also leads testing and optimization, analyzes performance, helps maintain dashboards, and collaborates across creative, marketing, sales, ticketing, partnerships, content, and analytics teams to keep campaign projects moving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a university, college, or art institute, or equivalent professional work experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in lifecycle, CRM, or retention marketing, with ownership of automated programs at scale.
  • A lifecycle mindset focused on designing and improving engagement and revenue-generating programs.
  • Hands-on experience building audiences, automations, and journeys in an enterprise email or marketing automation platform.
  • Experience leading or owning an SMS program and understanding SMS compliance requirements.
  • Working understanding of email deliverability best practices and privacy regulations.
  • Strong grounding in testing and experimentation, from setup through applying results.
  • Strong project management skills, including managing multiple deadlines and keeping work moving across teams.
  • Hands-on experience with tools similar to Wrike, Salesforce, Attentive, and marketing automation tools.
  • Experience with CDPs and event-based data models.
  • Ability to interpret campaign data, build and own performance dashboards with marketing analytics, and apply findings to future strategy.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS for troubleshooting and editing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong messaging instincts, and ability to explain data and strategy to non-technical colleagues.
  • Confidence to form independent opinions, provide candid feedback, and work without step-by-step direction.

  • Experience in sports, ticketing, or entertainment, with an understanding of fans and event-driven timing.

  • Knowledge of and passion for NBA basketball.
  • Experience with Yinzcam; preferred but not required.
