About The Position

The Licensing Specialist analyzes state and local laws, determines licensing requirements, and manages the end-to-end process of obtaining and maintaining critical sales and operational licenses for an assigned region. This role works closely with franchisees, corporate operations personnel, and government licensing officials, while maintaining a comprehensive licensing database and providing guidance on how licensing requirements affect current and proposed business operations. The position offers strong growth opportunities in accounting, exposure to multiple sides of the business, and the chance to work within a large, collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in mortgage or licensing-related work.
  • Associate's degree.
  • Strong reading and analytical skills to interpret and apply state and local laws and regulations.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with franchisees, corporate personnel, and government officials.
  • Extensive experience with database software programs for maintaining and updating licensing records.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience or familiarity with accounting, auditing, and compliance processes.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation and curiosity in reviewing documentation and processes.
  • Ability to reconcile information, including bank reconciliation, credit card transactions, and expense allocations, as part of licensing and compliance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze state and local government laws and regulations to determine licensing requirements for sales and operational activities in assigned regions.
  • Apply identified licensing requirements to ensure that all necessary sales and operational licenses are obtained and maintained for the assigned region.
  • Collaborate with franchisees and corporate operations personnel in designated regions to gather information needed to complete licensing applications accurately and on time.
  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders on the status of licensing activities and applications.
  • Interact professionally with state and local licensing officials to obtain current and relevant licensing information, forms, and procedural guidance.
  • Maintain and oversee the accuracy and completeness of the assigned region’s portion of a comprehensive licensing database.
  • Monitor licensing deadlines, renewals, and changes in regulatory requirements for the assigned region and update records accordingly.
  • Provide advice and counsel to internal stakeholders on the application of various licensing requirements to current operations.
  • Evaluate how proposed new operations, initiatives, or changes may be affected by existing licensing requirements and advise accordingly.
  • Support compliance efforts by ensuring that licensing activities align with accounting, auditing, and regulatory standards.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and database software to prepare, track, and report on licensing documentation and related financial or compliance information.
  • Contribute to cross-training initiatives by learning and supporting multiple sides of the business related to licensing, accounting, and compliance.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and curiosity by proactively identifying discrepancies, potential issues, or opportunities for process improvement within licensing activities.
