About The Position

The Licensing Specialist role involves serving in various licensing capacities, including resident, non-resident, renewal, reinstatement, license changes, and background checks. The position requires receiving, researching, and responding to inquiries and complaints, providing information, explaining policies and procedures, and facilitating resolutions. Responsibilities include analyzing, summarizing, and reviewing data, reporting findings, interpreting results, and making recommendations. The specialist will ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and agency standards. This role also involves interpreting and applying agency policies, procedures, business practices, and laws. Identifying developing patterns of problems or complaints from data is crucial, as is assisting the public with electronic applications and resolving related issues. The position requires reviewing, researching, and interpreting data from various sources, analyzing legal documents, and communicating with licensing vendors like NIPR and Sircon. The specialist will act as a liaison and resource for the public and others, troubleshoot electronic application problems, and generate reports by retrieving data from databases. Additionally, the role involves writing, drafting, and processing data, documents, and reports, and coordinating various projects and services.

Requirements

  • Principles, theories and practices of one or more of the following types of insurance: life, health, title, property and casualty, bail bond insurance, etc.
  • Find, gather and collect information or data, conduct a methodical examination; evaluate information against a set of standards.
  • Use automated software programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Use computer relational database software.
  • Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact and professionalism.
  • Compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, verify, or process information or data; use research methods, techniques, and/or sources of information.
  • Interviewing techniques.
  • Investigative techniques and processes.
  • Decide or solve a problem by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutions, use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
  • Interpret, clarify, explain and apply agency policy and procedures, business practices, federal or state laws and regulations, etc.
  • Identify data and information which suggest developing patterns of problems or complaints, from which general or specific trends and patterns can be discerned, suggesting a need for further investigation.
  • Review electronic applications and assist the public and others with problems.
  • Review, research, and interpret data and other source material and documents.
  • Analyze legal documents.
  • Communicate with licensing vendors, NIPR and Sircon.
  • Work with licensing vendors to resolve a wide variety of issues of the licensing process, such as fees failing to post, needs for changes in their online procedures, feedback from clients, etc.
  • Act as a liaison and resource to provide assistance to the public and others.
  • Review problems related to electronic applications, including investigation and written communication relative to each problem application.
  • Retrieve data found in databases to generate requested reports.
  • Write, draft and process data, documents and reports, etc.
  • Coordinate various projects and services.
