About The Position
Small Door is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to provide veterinary nursing care in a general practice setting. Nurses work in state-of-the-art facilities as part of a supportive, collaborative network, with strong doctor-to-nurse staffing ratios and support from a 24/7 telehealth team and dedicated call center. Small Door practices Fear Free care and is AAHA accredited. The role contributes to the organization’s mission to provide accessible, compassionate veterinary care and maintain a hospitable environment for pets and clients.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician in a general practice setting.
- Availability to work weekends, Saturday or Sunday.
- Comfort with computers and online tools.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Strong communication skills with clients.
- Thoughtful, fearless team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for pets.
Responsibilities
- Recognize medical emergencies and illnesses and triage patients.
- Assess patients, record vital signs, and assist doctors with diagnostics.
- Complete treatments as instructed by the doctor.
- Provide basic husbandry and nursing care.
- Monitor patient changes and provide compassionate care.
- Draw blood and place catheters.
- Assist with and facilitate radiography capture.
- Prepare samples for outside reference laboratories and run in-house laboratory tests.
- Prepare and administer medications.
- Help maintain a hospitable environment.
